General French News | Scottish seafood a hit in France

Although many head out on French holidays to taste some luxurious French imports, such as silky oysters and buttery lobster, it seems Scottish seafood has been taking over the country recently, by supplying delicious dishes to the Bocuse d'Or competition in Lyon.
According to WorldFishing.net, Seafood Scotland has been chosen not only to supply food to the competition, for its fish course round, but also to sponsor the seafood category within the competition. The event, which sees 24 world-class chefs fight it out for a gold statue of legendary cook, Paul Bocuse, chose the seafood supplier for its high quality products, amongst other things.
'We were delighted to win the supply contract for this prestigious competition,' said Seafood Scotland's marketing manager, Sarah Holmyard. 'In particular, they have been using Scottish langoustine, monkfish and crab, which are the three species chosen for the Bocuse d'Or competition.'
'As part of the judging process, we had to provide full information about the measures taken in Scotland to ensure the sustainability of seafood suppliers,' she added on FishUpdate.com.
'The judges were impressed by the country's efforts to lead the field in the EU in sustainable fishers management. We are delighted that the profile of Scottish seafood has been raised by becoming sponsors of the Bocuse d'Or seafood course, and wish all the competitors the very best of luck in the competition this week. We also look forward to tasting their dishes!'
