General French News | Paris to host culinary couture show
Wednesday, 06th, July by Deborah Bates
Paris is getting ready to host its first "combined culinary and couture show" later this week, those heading to the capital on French holidays might be interested to learn.
The show, which will see "haute couture meet haute cuisine" is set to attract big name design houses - like Dior - and famed chefs, such as Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
It is thought all of these creative minds will demonstrate how cuisine and couture can work together, The Independent suggested; explaining how they use the same delicate techniques to get to their desired outcome.
In fact, a Christian Dior mini-show has been even been developed around the theme of 'Salad'.
Luxuo.com also revealed: "In an ode to the chef's coat - the white uniform that represents status and authority in the kitchen - chefs Jean-Francois Piege and Jean-Georges Vongerichten will also prepare 'un diner blanc'.
"The white dinner will be organised in collaboration with fashion house Maison martin Margiela, whose signature label consists of nothing more than a blank, white tag or label."
It is perhaps no wonder the event has been created, as Paris has long been held as the fashion capital of the world; and last year, French cuisine was listed as one of UNESCO's "intangible cultural heritage of humanities."
