Normandy can boast some serious artistic credentials, of which it is rightfully proud.
Taking inspiration from the region’s lovely light and natural beauty, the Impressionists set up their easels along the Channel coast and the banks of the Seine, in Rouen's Old Town and Monet's private gardens in Giverny. Some of the most famous and popular works of art from the 19th century were the colourful results.
Now, to celebrate the role that the northern region played in this epoch-defining movement, Impressionism is taking over for the summer.
