More than a thousand new ski resort properties are to be built in the French Alps, in an effort to keep up with growing demand.
Although full details have yet to be announced, developer MGM group said the new developments will be state of the art in terms of sustainability and fuel economy. Work will begin on the new schemes as soon as this winter's ski season is over and 11 locations across France are set to receive the new residences.
All of the new developments will be residences for those on their
French holidays although the properties will be sold on a leaseback basis. This means purchasers are set to receive a guaranteed annual rental income, whilst also being able to enjoy several weeks of personal use of their property each year.
As reported by Property Wire, MGM's four star residences usually have facilities including an indoor pool, fitness suit, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms, in addition to a beauty centre which offers a variety of treatments.
It is thought some of the new residences will be in resorts including Tignes, Samoens and Les Carroz where successful MGM developments have already been built. But others, will be in new locations for the developers including Chatel and Combloux.
Richard Deans of MGM's UK sales office said the projects will be the largest number of new developments to commence in a single year.
'Several factors have combined to achieve this. Planning applications which have taken some time to reach the approval stage now have the go-ahead and with market growth across the French Alps gaining momentum, we decided to draw a higher than usual number of sites from our land bank so that we can start creating new apartments for occupation in less that two years from now,' he said.
