French Travel News-2010/2011 | Jean Michel Jarre sizzles in Caen this November

Tuesday, November, 2nd at 15.33 by Deborah Bates
Liven up your French holidays with the chance to see and meet esteemed musician, Jean Michel Jarre on his first world tour. Jean Michel was named 'arguably the pioneer of electronic music' by Brittany Ferries in a recent press release, and has enjoyed global success since the release of his seminal album Oxygène 33 years ago.

This world tour provides the public with a one-off chance to see Jean Michel bring his 'Son et lumière' show to the Zénith theatre in Caen this November. Within the show, Jean Michel (who has sold over 80 million records across the world), will focus on the innovative visions of his friend, Arthur C. Clarke (author of 2001: A Space Odyssey). This exciting opportunity to visit Caen and see Jean Michel also leaves plenty of time to experience the sights and sounds of Caen, an historic city that has been gradually re-built since its infamous battle with the British in 1944.

Sights not to miss in Caen include the Musée des Beaux Arts, an impressive collection of French, Flemish and Italian paintings; and St Pierre church, a 14th century building which has been reconstructed with the city. Be sure to visit Château Ducal, built by William the Conqueror, and the Musée de Normandie - providing a historical overview of this fascinating city. Head to Caen's pleasure port in the evenings, to sample a range of tantalising restaurants and cafés.

Jean Michel's winning combination of electronica and light, combined with the many sights of Caen (including the Normandy beaches, 8 beautiful churches and fabulous shopping districts) make this a chance not to be missed.
