France is likely to prove a popular holiday hotspot for 2012, according to a new list of predicted popular destinations released by the Association of British Tour Operators (ABTA).
The organisation predicts that while upcoming destinations such as Columbia, Cape Verde and Jordan Ð along with Ukraine and Poland, hosts of the 2012 Euro Football Championships Ð would see a boost in visitor numbers, old favourites such as France and Spain would continue to be very popular with visitors.
ABTA believes that the continuing worldwide financial instability would be a key factor in people choosing familiar places like France to enjoy their annual holiday.
The organisation also said it expected luxury and budget travel markets to experience growth, while mid-market holidays were expected to struggle as the sector is normally hit hardest by cuts in consumer spending. Cruises, activity holidays, adventure travel and weddings overseas were all also added to the list of travel sectors expected to perform well in 2012.
All of these kinds of holidays can be enjoyed in France, from boating cruises along the Rhone to kayaking in Ardeche and getting hitched in a Loire chateau!
