For a change this year, why not head to the heart of Dordogne for a French holiday to remember?
The good people at the tourist office there have told us about a great little mini-break now available.
The market town of Sarlat is not short on quaintness, and this remarkably well-preserved medieval gem never fails to enchant visitors - most of whom come in high summer.
By heading there for New Year you can soak up the historic ambience without the jostle of the crowds.
The mini-break begins on Saturday morning with a guided tour and special lunch starring the Périgord's famous black diamond - truffles. All of this takes place on a truffle farm.
In the afternoon, you can take a wander around Sarlat itself and enjoy the Christmas market, before heading back to your hotel to get ready for the New Year celebrations.
A gourmet dinner awaits you, combining Périgord delicacies and classic seasonal celebration food, from foie gras to scallops. You will also enjoy an array of specially-selected wines...
After dinner, you will see in the New Year with a spectacular magic show, followed by music and dancing into the night!
The package also includes breakfast the next morning. There are two options, a 2-star hotel package (from €217/pers.) or 3-star alternative (from €226/pers.).
