French Travel news -2011. | Air travel strike warning
If you are heading to France for a short break or holiday this week, be warned that flight chaos is expected in all major UK airports on Wednesday November 30th, when a 24-hour strike by immigration officers will take place.
Some major airlines including Air France-KLM, have yet to decide whether or not to comply with BAA’s request to only fly half-full aircraft into Heathrow.
This week the Telegraph reported that BAA wrote to airlines warning that the strike by immigration officers could paralyse Heathrow. Gatwick also warned passengers to be prepared for “significant disruption” at immigration checkpoints.
BAA said passengers arriving at Heathrow could have to wait up to 12 hours to clear passport control because of the strike, adding that some could have to sit on aircraft for long periods because of passport control queues.
British Airways customers due to arrive at London airports on Wednesday will be able to change their flights free of charge, while easyJet has told passengers via its website that they should check the status of their flight before travelling to the airport.
