The Midi-Pyrénées is the largest region of France, home to Gascony, a place known for its breathtaking countryside and where good food and fine wine is a way of life.
‘Rosa’ is a gorgeous old Dutch ‘clipper’ barge, completed refitted in 2010 to become the 8-passenger hotel barge she is today.
The air conditioned interior includes a dining room, saloon, bar and four staterooms. Two of the staterooms have double beds and two have twin beds, all of which have full en-suite facilities.
Passengers can bask on comfortable furniture outside on the spacious sun deck.
Her cruise route takes passengers through Gascony on the Canal Lateral à la Garonne, from historic Montauban to the delightful town of Agen, through the region of l’Occitanie, a veritable palette of colours and scents created by orchards and vineyards.
Highlights of a cruise abord ‘Rosa’ include excursions to historic fortified ‘bastides’ such as Valence d’Agen; wine, Armagnac and foie gras tastings; a visit to an ancient abbey in Moissac and the traversing of a spectacular 1000ft aqueduct.
‘Rosa’, like very European Waterways’ hotel barge is fully crewed with an experienced Captain, attentive hosts/hostesses, a Master Chef who will prepare fine cuisine and a tour guide who will take passengers on excursions in an air-conditioned minibus.
Prices are per person for a 6 night cruise, including accommodation in ensuite cabins, all meals, fine wines, an open bar, excursions, entry fees and local transfers. The hotel barges can also be chartered.
