Interior details:

Built, as are many houses in the region, partly into the hillside, Le Pichet retains many of its original features - the "pas de oiseaux" (for thatching), and beams from the old roof structure. It benefits from superb light, particularly  in the afternoons and evenings, is warmly and comfortably furnished, and hung with Rodney’s paintings and Eleri’s embroideries.

Ground floor:

Spacious dining room, bathroom and well equipped kitchen.
An oak staircase leads to the first floor: light, high-ceilinged and spacious living room/extra bedroom and two charming bedrooms.

Garden:

Planted with roses, honeysuckle and clematis, the garden is an idyllic place to relax. You are most welcome to pick its abundant herbs, and raspberries, rhubarb and salad when available. The shaded paved area is ideal for enjoying your barbecue. There is communal parking.

The Surroundings:

The Ariege-Couserans (18 valleys converging on St Girons) has a rich and varied historical, cultural and gastronomic heritage of which the Ariegeois are fiercely and justly proud.

It also boasts some of the Pyrenees’ wildest, most remote and unspoilt scenery, as well as the gentle beauty of the lower valleys and slopes. Miramont is ideally placed for you to explore wherever the fancy takes you.

Activities:

Superb walking, whatever your level,(GR10, GR pays, Wartime Escape Routes into Spain, a first-class Centre Equestre, ski-ing (Guzet Neige is 30 mins away),canoe/kayak, fishing.

Culture/history:

Gallo Roman St Lizier, medieval Foix, Cathar castles, world famous prehistoric caves, park of prehistoric Art. Riviere Souterraine de Labouiche. Numerous childrens’ attractions.
