Description
European Waterways – France’s leading luxury hotel barge company
Burgundy is the most popular hotel barging area in Europe, and is renowned for its vineyards, Gothic churches, Renaissance châteaux and picturesque villages.
It also boasts some of the world’s finest wines, with around 60,000 acres of sunlit vineyards and arguably the prettiest canals in France.
European Waterways has ten fully-crewed, luxury hotel barges accommodating from 6 to 12 passengers, which cruise in this delightful region:
‘La Belle Epoque’ on the Upper Burgundy Canal;
‘L’Impressionniste’, ‘Fleur de Lys’
‘La Reine Pedauque’ on the Lower Burgundy Canal
‘L’Art de Vivre’ on the Canal du Nivernais
‘Renaissance’ and ‘Hirondelle’ in Western Burgundy on the Canal du Briare and Canal Lateral à la Loire
‘Amaryllis’ on the River Saône and Canal du Centre;
‘La Nouvelle Etoile’ in Northern Burgundy;
‘Savoir Faire’ which cruises between Northern Burgundy and Paris.
Highlights of a Burgundy cruise aboard our various hotel barges typically include excursions to pretty villages such as Flavigny sur Ozerain, location for the film ‘Chocolat’; a cruise across Gustav Eiffel’s magical 10,000 ton, 662 metre aqueduct across the River Loire; private wine tastings and escorted visits to châteaux, abbeys and markets.
Every European Waterways’ hotel barge is fully crewed with an experienced Captain, attentive hosts/hostesses, a Master Chef who will prepare fine cuisine and a tour guide who will take passengers on excursions in an air-conditioned minibus.
Prices are per person for a 6 night cruise, including accommodation in ensuite cabins, all meals, fine wines, an open bar, excursions, entry fees and local transfers. The hotel barges can also be chartered.
