Description Brittany’s Land’s End – a holiday from self-guided cycling specialist Inntravel
Finistère, literally ‘land’s end’, is set on the rocky coast of north-west France, in the heart of Brittany. Its ancient Celtic culture has left the area rich in churches, calvaries and chapels, hewn out of the local granite rocks.
Picturesque lighthouses stand sentinel on rugged cliffs that contrast with the broad sandy beaches at the southern end of the Bay of Audierne.
This is the quiet side of Brittany and it is here that the visitor can experience the best of coastal cycling, made all the more enjoyable by the fact that the terrain is generally flat and that luggage transfers are arranged from one hotel to the next.
The self-guided routes, which are described in easy-to-follow cycling notes, explore both coastal and pastoral inland scenery.
They range from 25km to 48km, meaning there is ample time to marvel at the spectacular coastal views, to visit wayside chapels and ancient dolmens, to explore the timeless villages and to relax on the beautiful expanses of sand.
Equally, time can be spent unwinding at the high-quality hotels, two of which have a swimming pool, anticipating the next delicious dinner of freshly caught seafood and other regional dishes.
Prices are per person based on two people sharing a double or twin room, and include 7 nights’ accommodation, breakfast and dinner every day, cycling notes, maps and luggage transfers. Extra nights can be booked at any hotel.
